"Scooter Buskie" is the first episode of the first season of The Boss Baby: Back in Business.
Plot
The constantly crying `worst baby in the world' is making life miserable for all of his neighbors, and Boss Baby's field team hopes to turn things around.
Why It Sucks
- To get the cat out of the bag, it's Scooter Buskie, who is easily the worst character in not only the show itself, but is also worse than any bad Netflix original characters such as Big Tex Arkana from Buddy Thunderstruck or Jessica Gordon from The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, as he caused the town to dislike babies and adapt for cats instead and has done a lot of disruption in the neighborhood by constantly misbehaving, crying, or vandalizing people's property.
- Abysmal writing with offensive comedy from Brandon Sawyer who done better writing and comedy in another DreamWorks show, The Penguins of Madagascar such as the baby toy swing speaking in a Japanese stereotype or the scene when Tim suggested helping Scooter out, Staci refers to him as a liberal just because he wants to help Scooter in a simple way. And why or how do these babies care about or even know about American politics, anyway?
- Aside from Scooter Buskie, the babies are very out of character as they steal Scooter and bring him to Baby Crop to "improve" him, resulting in Scooter Buskie's parents calling the cops to report him.
- Staci was changed from a sweet little girl with a love of kindergarten to an aggressive tough girl.
- Jimbo was changed from an annoying idiot whose trademark is his love for puppies to an even more of an annoying idiot whose trademark is his love for kittens.
- The Triplets were changed from being helpful who actually do something to being completely useless as they mostly do nothing but stay at Baby Corp.
- The Mega Fat CEO Baby is very annoying and a complete moron who annoys Boss Baby and wants him to get fired. His terrible voice combined with his jerk persona only made him even more irritable.
- It also doesn't help that he replaces Big Boss Baby (Boss Baby's boss in the original movie). Besides, Big Boss Baby barely gains screentime in the show.
- In one scene, the Boss Baby says "It's like negotiating with North Korea!", a quote which is very offensive to North Korean people and the country of North Korea itself. Also, why would these babies care or know about North Koreans unless they're born in that country?
- Much like Get the Hock Out, this episode is filled with bathroom humor and filler scenes that barely have any purpose in the story such as the infamous scene with Scooter Buskie vomiting milk on Jumbo's teddy bear for seven seconds.
- Despite being set after the events of the original movie, the real issue is that it's far from being an actual sequel. It instead feels more like a spinoff series that has a lot of continuity errors that seemed to have contradicted the events of the first movie.
- The show is supposed to take place sometime after the events of the film. However, at the end of the film, the Boss Baby becomes a normal baby, but in the show, he is still working at Baby Corp, still being referred to as the Boss Baby.
- Neither Tim nor his parents refer to Boss Baby as "Theodore Lindsey Templeton" at all, which was the name they gave him at the end of the movie. It seems as if they never even gave him a name at all.
- It's just a 22-minute long "It's made for kids!" excuse to get away with the offensive jokes and terrible writing.
- Uninteresting chain of events that only serve to pad out the running time of the episode.
- This episode is infamous for being an incredibly mean-spirited episode due to Scooter Buskie and the babies' actions.
- In many scenes featuring the neighbors, some of them are just reused character models of Scooter Buskie's parents except with different colors and designs due to the animation looking like a PS2, Xbox, or a GameCube cutscene.
Redeeming Qualities
- Besides the baby cries the voice acting is decent for the most part.
- Some likable characters here and there such as Tim and Scooter Buskie's parents.
- The ending was very heartwarming as the town starts to love the babies.
- The first few minutes until Scooter Buskie's introduction of the episode were okay.
- The lines "WHAT THE BARF IS THIS GARBAGE?!?!?!", "THAT WAS HARD CASH, YOU MANIAC!!!" and "YOU SHUT YOUR LYING MOUTH!!!"
